Advanced Manufacturing

Accelerating
Workforce Readiness

Manufacturers are facing a growing challenge. Fewer experienced workers, longer ramp times, and increasing complexity on the floor are slowing production. Monarch helps teams build readiness through practice, so they can perform with confidence from day one.

What is a Digital Product Twin™?

A Digital Product Twin™ is an interactive, browser-based replica of a real product, system, or workflow, built so people can practise operating it before they touch the physical thing. Unlike a video or a slide deck, it behaves like the system: users move through the actual interface, make real decisions, and see the consequences play out.

It is not the same as an engineering digital twin, which mirrors a machine’s live sensor data to predict maintenance. A Digital Product Twin exists to build human capability. Monarch Learning Labs builds them for medical device and advanced manufacturing organizations, where access to physical systems is limited by cost, travel, scheduling, and risk.

Because the twin runs in a browser, a team can repeat a workflow as many times as it takes — before go-live, before the first real case, before day one on the floor. Repetition is what turns knowledge into confident execution.

The Workforce Gap Is Growing

Across manufacturing, teams are being asked to do more with fewer experienced operators.

New hires need to get up to speed quickly.
Experienced workers don't have time to train them.
And access to real systems is limited.

Training alone can't keep up with the pace of demand.

Training Gap

On the floor, teams are expected to:

Get Up to Speed Quickly

Operate with Precision

Contribute Without Disrupting Production

Extend the Workforce with a Practice Layer

Monarch helps manufacturers prepare workers before they step onto the floor. Digital Product Twins™ create a repeatable environment where teams can practice real workflows, build familiarity, and develop confidence.

Digital Product Twin

This is what the Practice Layer enables:

Prepare New Hires Before Day One

Build baseline knowledge and confidence early.

Rehearse Workflows Without Impacting Production

Practice real scenarios in a safe, risk-free environment.

Build Confidence Through Repetition

Reinforce decisions and develop muscle memory over time.

Powered by Digital Product Twins™

Content, supported by interactive simulation.

Browser-based replicas of your systems and workflows allow teams to move through real processes, interact with interfaces, and build familiarity without interrupting production or requiring access to physical equipment.

Frequently asked questions

What is a Digital Product Twin™?
A Digital Product Twin™ is an interactive, browser-based replica of a real product, system, or workflow, built so people can practise operating it before they touch the physical thing. Users move through the actual interface, make real decisions, and see the consequences play out. Monarch Learning Labs builds Digital Product Twins for medical device and advanced manufacturing organizations, where access to physical systems is limited by cost, travel, scheduling, and risk.
Can new hires train without taking a machine off production?
Yes. That is the core reason a practice layer exists. Because the Digital Product Twin™ is a browser-based replica of the system, new hires can rehearse real workflows without occupying equipment, interrupting a production run, or waiting for an experienced operator to be free to supervise them.
How is this different from training videos or an LMS course?
Videos and courses deliver exposure. A Digital Product Twin™ delivers practice. Instead of watching someone else operate a system, a learner operates it themselves, repeats the workflow as many times as they need, and gets feedback on the decisions they made. Monarch is designed to sit alongside an existing LMS, content library, and SOPs rather than replace them, adding a practice layer to the training already in place.
Do teams need a VR headset or special hardware?
No. Monarch’s Digital Product Twins™ run in a standard web browser. A learner needs a screen and an internet connection, not a headset, a simulator rig, or access to the physical system. That is what makes repetition practical: teams can practise from anywhere, on demand, without booking equipment or travelling to it.
What kinds of systems can be replicated?
Monarch builds twins of the products, systems, and workflows its clients operate, spanning surgical robotics through CNC machining. What is replicated is the interface and the process a person works through, so the deciding factor is whether there is a workflow a human needs to learn, not the size or category of the machine.
How is a Digital Product Twin different from an engineering digital twin?
An engineering digital twin mirrors a physical asset’s live sensor data to monitor performance and predict maintenance. A Digital Product Twin™ has a different job: it exists to build human capability. It replicates the interface and workflow a person actually operates, so teams can rehearse decisions and build familiarity. One is about the health of the machine; the other is about the readiness of the people using it.
